Yvonne Bernadette (Jones) Brooks, 68 of Fort Washington, Maryland.

OBITUARY

Yvonne Jones Brooks was born in Accokeek, MD on April 20, 1950 to Mary Eleanor Jones and the late Harry Bernard Jones.

Yvonne was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church which she faithfully attended until she was called home.  Yvonne graduated from Gwyn Park High School in Brandywine, MD and began a successful career with the Federal Government's, Library of Congress, Washington, DC. Yvonne continued to work for the Library of Congress as a Senior Searcher Examiner until she retired in 2005.

Yvonne was extremely agile and full of energy.  She thoroughly enjoyed "Hand Dancing" and frequently went out Hand Dancing and to fellowship with her friends. She loved hand dancing, but her greatest passions were decorating the interior of her house and maintaining several beautiful flower gardens around the house.

On Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland, Yvonne J. Brooks transitioned to eternal life.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Belinda Ann Jones.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her memories, her precious Daughter, Shadawn Brooks, her Granddaughter, Jaylen Hines, and her beloved Mother, Mary E. Jones, Siblings: Barbara Jones, Sylvester Jones (Mary R.), Sandra Wilkins, Harry Jones Jr., Ronald Jones, and Mary A. Jones.  She also leaves behind host of relatives and friends.

Viewing, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Mass of Christian Burial, 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland.  Interment, Church Cemetery.
