On March 7, 2013, Yancey Warren Jr., quietly departed this life at United Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Yancey was born in Washington, D.C., on March 28, 1948, to the late Lila Burrows and the late Rev. Yancey Warren. Yancey Jr. was raised by his loving and caring grandparents, the late Laura Warren and the late Yellie Warren. He was baptized at an early age at the Zion Baptist Church in Hilltop, Maryland.
He attended Charles County Public Schools in Maryland. After graduating, he joined the Army. He worked as a Chef and held jobs pertaining to his trade.
Yancey loved food and because he did, he enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He loved telling jokes and had a laugh of his own.
He leaves to cherish his memories sisters: Lois Ann, Lorraine, Marguerite (Gregory), Dianne, Lesia (Terry), Theresa Ross (Michael), Sandra Dyson (George); brothers: Anthony (Becky), Matthew (Christine), Mark (Lititia), Timothy (Allison) and Samuel Swann (Denise) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services are private. Arrangements, Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Indian Head, Maryland.
