Obituary

Paige, Willis Edward "Buck" Jr.(AGE 70) of Clinton, MD

Willis E. Paige, Jr., the third child of eight and oldest son of the late Willis and Estelle Paige, was born September 19, 1945, in Washington, DC, and peacefully entered into eternal rest on September 24, 2015.

Willis, known to family and friends as "Buck," attended DC public schools where he received a perfect attendance certificate in elementary school (which his oldest sister is claiming because she had to carry him to school on her back several times because he injured his foot). Buck graduated from Spingarn High School in 1964 and was proud of being a Captain in the cadets.

He was drafted in the United States Army in 1965 where he served in Vietnam. After two years in the military, he returned to his job at the Georgetown Law Center. In 1968 Buck was employed with the Department of the Army where he started in the mailroom and worked his way up to being an HR Assistant and the "go-to person" in the Date of Ranks Section until he retired in January 2009. Buck had over 41 years of federal service.

Buck and his wife, Shirley, were united in marriage on November 20, 1971. From this union of nearly 44 years, they were blessed with their son, Kevin.

At an early age Buck accepted Christ as his Lord and savior and was baptized at Delaware Avenue Baptist Church in southwest DC. Buck enjoyed a number of interests, but loved fishing, bowling, and roller-skating.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Shirley, his son, Kevin, siblings who looked to him for guidance and strength -- four sisters Ellen Delaney, Jean Milbourne, Mary Hursey, Sherry Paige, two brothers, Jerry Paige, Sr., Ronald Paige, Sr., his sister Geneve Lane who preceded him in death; three sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, two uncles, four aunts and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

His viewing will be held from 10am until time of service 11am on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744.

Interment Monday, October 5, 2015, 10:15am, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
