Rev. Mr. Willie Refus Reid, 85 of Waldorf, Maryland.

Rev. Willie R. Reid, a dedicated servant of God, was born on August 26, 1937, and gained his wings on August 17, 2023. Rev. Reid's life journey was a living testament to his unyielding faith, boundless compassion, and devoted commitment to serving humanity. Rev. Willie R. Reid was born in Roanoke, Alabama, and moved to Roosevelt, New York, in 1962. He then met his lovely wife in 1965, and they married in 1967. In 2014, they relocated from Hempstead, NY, to Waldorf, MD, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

He worked for and retired from Northrop Grumman as a Senior Budget Analyst. As a dedicated Man of God, Rev. Reid had a wide-reaching influence. His tenure as the Head Chaplain for institutions such as the Nassau County Corrections, the Nassau County Medical Center, and the A. Holly Paterson Nursing Home touched the lives of many during their times of vulnerability.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (Bennett) Reid, his beloved children, Kelvin Reid, Fayette (Reid) Jones, and Tamu (Reid) Escalera, Charles Love, Colleen (Reid) Higgings, Paula Reid, Anthony Reid, Timothy Reid, Lisa (Reid) Zanders, and Joseph Reid; two Sons-In-Love, Paul Jones and Jermel Escalera, one Daughter-In-love, Dianelly Reid; and two brothers, Jimmie Reid, Jr. and Frank Sims. He was also beloved by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and an entire extended family.  May they find solace in the shared memories, the lives he touched, and the certainty that Rev. Reid's profound influence will continue to mold and uplift generations to come.

Viewing, 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life, 12 noon, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Christian Unity Baptist Church, 11822 Park Waldorf Lane, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.  Interment immediately following at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20613.
