Obituary

Willie Montgomery was born in Marbury, Maryland on September 25, 1927 to the late Willie Smallwood and Mary L. Montgomery (Taylor).

He was called home Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 92 in Waldorf, MD.

Willie attended Charles County Public Schools.  He was a long time member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from a very young age until his passing.  In 1951 he married Beulah Monroe and they moved to Pisgah, MD.  They had one daughter together that blessed them with four grandchildren.  Willie worked for the U.S. Federal Government/GSA as a Mechanical Operator for 47 years and retired on a Friday in 1990.  The following Monday he was employed with Charles County Government as a recycle attendant all the way up to March 2019.  He also worked as a security guard with Alpha Security for 4 years and also worked part-time at the Smith Chapel Church in La Plata, MD.  Willie loved to spoil his grandchildren.  He also loved fried chicken, chocolate cake, watermelon, cars, blues music and spending money on scratch offs.

Willie leaves to mourn and cherish his precious memory to the following:  brother, Theodore Montgomery (wife Sylvia); three grandchildren, Ava Montgomery, Nicole Johnson and Colin Montgomery Sr.; great-grandchildren, Nakia Montgomery, Tameaka Montgomery, Nico Montgomery Sr., David Wilson Jr., Aiyona Montomery, Tashauna Key, Aspen Key, Colin Montgomery Jr., Jada Montgomery, Anyia Montgomery and Cyina Hill; great-great grandchildren, Makaii Montgomery, Nico Montgomery Jr., Shaniya Riley, Jada Davis, Nevaeh Davis, Dior Swinson and one on the way. Along with a host of family and friends.

Willie is preceded in death by his wife,Beulah Montgomery; daughter, Jocelyn Montgomery and granddaughter, Dawn Montgomery.

His viewing will be held from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am on Monday, August 3, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A,, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
