William Alexander Spriggs (Age 72) of Adelphi, Maryland.

William Alexander Spriggs departed this life on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Genesis HealthCare in LaPlata, MD.

Born on June 28, 1948 to the late George Phillip Spriggs and Marguerite Matilda Spriggs in McConchie, MD.

William received his formal education in the Charles County Public School System in Maryland and graduated from LaPlata High School.  He started his career at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head Maryland.  Later he went to work for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC until his retirement in 1989.

William was a true Washington Redskins fan no matter how good or bad the season was he loved his team.  His friends and family knew him by his CB name "Crab"  because of his love for Maryland Crabs.  He loved and enjoyed his family, friends, music, playing cards, and dancing.  His infectious smile would light up the room and if the oldies were playing, he was singing or dancing.  He was always ready for a good time but also knew when it was time to go.   He enjoyed watching sport fishing and yelling at the TV when they would toss back a big catch or watch the same western time and time again.  He enjoyed talking about and working on old cars whenever he could.

William is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alice Montgomery and Luvenia Montgomery, brothers Francis Spriggs, and Sylvester Spriggs, sister-in-law Shirley Spriggs, brothers-in-laws Reginald Montgomery, Jerome Montgomery, and Cecil Jordan.

William leaves to cherish his memory his three children Mary Felicia (Theodore) Caldwell, William Purnell Spriggs, and Hope Melissa Spriggs, sisters; Louise Roberta Jordan, Elizabeth "Mickey" (Jerome) Riley, Evelyn (Thomas) Dashiell, Virginia (William) Farmer, Eleanor (Darryl) Kitt and brothers; John (Faye) Spriggs, Edward (Melon) Spriggs, Robert (Barbara) Spriggs, Harold (Rose) Spriggs, James "Jimmy" Spriggs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

His Viewing will be, 10:00 am, until time of Service, 11:00 am, Monday, February 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.

Interment, St. Catherine's Catholic Church Cemetery, McConchie, Maryland.
