On Friday, April 22, 2016, at the age of 89, William Andrew Posey, Sr. departed this life at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, LaPlata, Maryland.

Deacon Emeritus William A. Posey, Sr., was born on March 29, 1927 in
Nanjemoy, Maryland, to the late Edna Hattie Posey Marbury. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ruth I. Gutrick Posey for 47 years. He was educated in the Charles County public school system; upon graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served his country honorably in WW II then received an honorable discharge. He began his working career at the Naval Ordnance Station (NOS), Indian Head, Maryland and retired after many years of service.

At an early age William accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Ironsides, MD, under the leadership of the late Rev. C. R. Alexander. He was committed to his church and to his Lord. He was a member of the Deacon Board, Prayer Band, Sunday School Department where he served as Adult Sunday School Teacher and Church School Superintendent. He was also a member of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir.

He was affectionately known as "Daddy" and "Pop-Pop." He leaves to cherish his memories eight children: Carol Ann (James), Ruth Ann, Gloria, Connie, Christine (Jamie), William Jr., Mark, Matthew (KaTina); seven grandchildren: LaShawn, Larry (Nicole), Steven (Erin), Tony, Mark, Matty and Joshua; two great-grandchildren: Ava and Landon; two God-children: Dominique Keys and Danyelle Washington; one sister-in-law, Blanche Waters and one brother-in-law,
McKinley (Sonny) Gutrick and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland 20662. Interment, Church Cemetery.
