William Walter Mack, Jr., 75 of Indian Head, Maryland.

Obituary

On Monday January 16, 2017, William Walter Mack Jr, aka "Junior or Mack",, entered peacefully into eternal rest at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, Maryland. He was born October 30, 1941, to the late Nettie "Sister" Mack and Chester Swann.

Mack was a life-long resident of Charles County (Indian Head) and graduated from Pomonkey High School in 1960. In 1965 he was united in marriage to Julia Rosalie Dent of Indian Head, Maryland and five children were born to this union. He was deeply committed to family (caring and providing throughout his life). He enjoyed old Western movies, playing the lottery, cheering for all teams Washington – Capitals, Nationals and especially the Redskins. Mack was also a collector of sports cards, coins and watches.

Mack had a successful career with the Charles County Public School System for more than 35yrs. He was a diligent employee and his exemplary performance lead to the promotion of Building Services Manager. The school administration and staff could always depend on him and greatly appreciated his code of excellence. Mack was community and civic minded putting emphasis on the youth which is why he made serving the community and it's children his second career, receiving plaques and certificates of appreciation. He worked tirelessly for the Charles County Parks and Recreation Department for almost as long as he did with the school system....he loved the kids and they loved him. Mack was their mentor, coach (in many of the sports) and a tremendous role model. He was known and respected throughout the community and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his wife Julia Rosalie, his son, Walter Mack, his brother, Bernard Mathews, his sister, Linda Matthews-Aukard.

He leaves to cherish his memory four children, Maurice Mack (Rewa), Crystal Jones (Jerome) Timothy Mack (Miltta) and Janeen Mack (Antwan); Agnes Paulette Mack (Daughter in-law); 13 grandchildren; Sylvia Farmer, Curtis Farmer, Malik Mack, Marquis Mack, Mekhi Mack, Paris Mack-Jones, Juwan Mack-Jones, Trenae Mack, Destiny Mack, Denise Mack, Danielle Mack, Deonna Mack and Amari Jennings; four great-grandchildren; six sisters Lorraine "Betsy" Mack, Patricia "Diane" Johnson, Sheila, Renee, Marsha "Kay", and Karen Matthews; one brother Donald "Mikey" Matthews; two aunts, Agnes "Jean" Smith and Rose Matthews, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
