IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Davis,
Jr.
August 18, 1968 – January 14, 2025
William Henry Davis, Jr. , affectionately known as "Boogie" to family and friends, was born on August 18, 1968, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky at the United States Army Hospital to the nurturing embrace of his parents (William Henry Davis, Sr. and Rebecca Ann Davis). His parents bestowed the importance of education, caring for others, and treating individuals as you would like to be treated. He departed his earthly life for eternal rest in peace with the Lord on January 14, 2025.
William attended elementary, middle, high schools and played various sports while living on several military bases in the United States and Germany. When he lived on the Fort George G. Meade Army Base in Maryland, he met his lifelong friends (who he considered brothers—Darryl Keeton, Daryl "Biddy" Pratt, and Chris Brown). After graduating from Meade High School in 1986, he attended the University of Maryland of the Eastern Shore (UMES) and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1992. He also met his soulmate (Leisa Lofton) at UMES. They were married in 1995 and from this union, welcomed two beautiful daughters (Taiylor Davis in 1995 and Brittany Davis in 1999). As parents, they made a promise to assist their girls with attaining home ownership after they graduated from college and were settled in their careers. Through God's grace, prayers, and disciplined saving plans, their promise was fulfilled in 2021 and 2023.
William and Leisa's favorite quote was "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." Pele'. In 2004, William furthered his education by attaining a Master's Degree in Computer Security Management from Strayer University. He successfully completed various professional Information Technology Certifications throughout his career. His daughters were very inspired by their father's success and decided to follow in his footsteps with their educational endeavors by acquiring a Computer Science Degree and pursuing professional careers in Information Technology. Since 1999, William held several positions as a Federal Government Contractor (Help Desk, Software Support Engineer, Systems Administrator, Network Tools Engineer, and Chief Engineer) for various companies including but not limited to: L&E Associates, ANSER, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Peraton, Inc. Due to his professionalism, technical expertise, excellent customer service and attainment of Information Technology Certifications, he acquired several special acknowledgements and awards.
In addition to pursuing excellence in his educational and professional endeavors, he also strived for excellence in his personal life (including his love for football). He was a big Washington Commanders fan who stood by his team through their highs and lows, dedicated his man cave décor specifically to them, and included various players from other teams on his fantasy team (including ironically--the Dallas Cowboy Kicker). We often joked about his fantasy football team picks and he studied the stats to get ready for each game (in hopes of weekly wins). One of his friends recently blessed him with tickets to attend the Washington Commanders/Tennessee Titians Game (with seats on the 50-yard line) and it was simply amazing because the Washington Commanders won the game!
He loved 70's Oldies, 80's Pop, R&B, 90's Hip Hop and Jazz Music and would sing the songs during Karaoke battles. As a young teen, while traveling to Harlem, New York for the holidays with his family, he would sit in a backroom at his grandmother's house to record all the latest music to bring back to his friends in Maryland.
Our beloved William "Boogie" was undoubtedly a gentle giant. He always spoke well of others and had an amazing way of connecting with others to offer a kind word of encouragement, advice, and mentorship. Because of his remarkably compassionate spirit, he was the best husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin any family could hope for. He will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten.
Left to cherish his memories are Wife: Leisa Davis; Daughters: Taiylor Davis and Brittany Davis; Father: William Henry Davis, Sr.; Mother: Rebecca Davis; Brother Jeffrey Davis (Queenita Penn-Davis); Sister: Nicole M. Cheek (James Cheek); In-Laws: Tony Powell and Linda Powell; Sisters-in-Law: Nicole Powell (Stacy Lovely), Nia Powell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.
