IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William
Giles
March 20, 1951 – September 15, 2022
William Giles, 71, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.
Our Heavenly Father wrote William "Skip" Giles name in the Book of Life and welcomed him into His loving arms on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Veterans Administration Hospital with his daughter by his side. Skip began his journey of life when he was born March 20, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Billy and Rosare (Stewart) Giles. Skip was preceded in heaven by his eldest brother Darryl Giles and younger brother Bart Giles.
Skip attended school in the District of Columbia Public School System. At the age 19, he joined the United States Army in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War until 1972.
Skip learned to paint houses from his dad, Billy Giles and worked in the family business Giles Painting Company until his skills led him to work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a painter.
His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins which he liked watching on Sundays. He loved to sing and listen to Smokey Robinson and other artist of Motown. You couldn't tell him he didn't sound like Smokey. Spending time with family at functions was something he enjoyed. His interests were watching Syfy movies and westerns, making crafts and model cars. He loved taking long walks with his dog, Lola and was known to take her with him everywhere.
Skip was a loving and devoted father to his child, Tekiyah. Skip was a joy to be around. His dry sense of humor and infectious smile could light up a room. He was well respected and well loved. We were blessed with many special moments and memories to treasure for a lifetime.
Skip leaves to cherish the celebration of his life, daughter, Tekiyah; grandson Delonte; sisters-in-law: Valerie and Jo-Ann. Nieces/Nephew: Vioncia, Angel (Aaron), Dana, Trina, and DeWayne. Great niece/nephew: Kyra, Kevin and Tre`Vyn. Aunts: Frances (Stewart) Williams, Martha (Stewart) Hussey, and Doris Jean (George) Giles along with a host of cousins and friends.
