IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William
Countiss
July 4, 1942 – May 21, 2022
William Edward Countiss, son of the late Harold Francis and Teresa Sara (Jackson) Countiss was born on July 4, 1942 in Hughesville, MD. He gained his wings on May 21, 2022, at the Hospice of St. Mary's in Callaway, MD.
Edward as he was known by most was the baby boy of the 5 siblings. Raised and educated in St. Mary's County. Edward met his wife of 59 years Catherine, in Charles County and after their union built their family home on the same land Edward was raised on and he affectionately referred to as "Home Place". Raising his own 5 kids on the land where he grew up was always a great source of pride for Edward.
Edward worked for George Hyman Construction Company currently known as Clark Construction where he retired after 23 years as a Construction Foreman. During his years as a Construction Foreman, he worked on sites that are still standing today, such as the Willard Hotel and the MCI Center in Washington DC. His most notable work site was that of his own home which he assisted in building with his own hands. Over the years Edward worked many other side jobs to support his family. He was an artisan well digger and a lawn care specialist. He and Catherine spent their retirement providing fulltime daycare for their grandchildren.
Edward will always be remembered for his hard work and dedication to support his family. Edward loved to sit around and tell stories to anyone that would listen. With every new person he encountered if given enough time he would get a complete background check out of them as he was infamous for asking questions. in the evenings you could find him in his garage enjoying his court TV shows, Family Feud and the Steve Harvey Show with a cold glass of his "homemade" wine.
In addition to his parents Edward was also proceeded in death by his wife Catherine Louise (Lee) Countiss, son Charles Edward Countiss, brother Harold Countiss Jr and sisters, Catherine Butler, Evelyn Whalen and Mary Ann Allen.
