Obituary

William Cleveland Brown, Jr. (Age 79) of Fort Washington, Maryland

A TIME TO BE BORN: To his parents, the late William C. Brown, Sr. and Marie Virginia Nelson, a beautiful boy was born on May 14, 1941 in Louisa County, Virginia.

A TIME TO BE A MAN:  As a young boy he was raised in Alexandria, Virginia with two beautiful siblings, big sister Margo and Sandra Lee.  There he attended Lyles Crous Elementary and Parker Gray High School, went into the military, U.S. Army and then returned home to work for Fairfax County School system for 42 years.  He also got married and through that union he was blessed with two lovely girls, Frieda and Marquee.  He later married Patricia Crews of Lynchburg, Virginia and was blessed with 27 wonderful years of marriage.

A TIME TO WORSHIP:  At a young age William accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.  He joined Third Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia and later moved his membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland where he served on the Hospitality Committee, Discipleship Ministry, Home Away from Home Ministry and the Veterans' Ministry.  He truly enjoyed every ministry he was in.  His true joys in life were his family, fishing and barbecuing on the grill.  He had an exceptional love for his friends whom he loved to entertain and make laugh.

A TIME TO DIE:  William entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 5:43 p.m. in Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia.  God needed more beautiful flowers in his garden as he called William home to rest.  William was preceded in death by his Father, William, mother, Marie and his daughter, Marquee.

HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY:  His best friend and loving wife, Patricia, daughter, Frieda, two sisters; Margo Heard of Alexandria, Virginia and Sandra Lee Blocker (Henry), of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, seven grandchildren; Mignon, Christian (Ron), Charlie, Hanna (Caleb), Stephen, Timothy (Annette) and Chole, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law; Stanley Crews (Shirley) and Samuel Crews (Joanne) of Fort Washington, Maryland, three sisters-in-law; Elizabeth Mayberry of Madison Heights, Virginia, Deborah Penn (Bo) and Linda Moore of Lynchburg, Virginia, two god-daughters; Tangelia Baily and Brittany Moore, four god-sons; Robert Byars, William and Patrick Shaw, Maurice Bowie and a host of devoted and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
