BRISCOE, WILLIAM BERNARD (AGE 63) OF WASHINGTON, D.C.
William Bernard Briscoe of Washington, DC transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was born on May 21, 1951 to
Charles B. and the late Dorothy L. Briscoe. Bernard was the youngest
of six children. He grew up in La Plata, MD and graduated from
Archbishop Neale School and La Plata High School.
Bernard was employed as a Special Policeman for FINRA in Washington,
DC. He loved his job and felt very proud of the service he was
providing.
Bernard was well known for his love of music. He started playing the
guitar and singing when he was just two years of age. He won many
talent shows and eventually was not invited to participate in them
because the other contestants felt that they did not have a chance to
win. In elementary school he was teamed with his cousin, Paul Wills
and the two of them made an awesome duet as they sang on many programs.
As a teenager, he started playing music with his older brothers in the original Corvettes Band. He went on to play with The Briscoe Brothers Band & Show and several others. More recently, he played the keyboard and sang with Jim Bennett and the Unique Creation Band until his death.
Most will remember that Bernard loved to tinker with automobile
engines. He would spend hours at a time tearing down and putting cars back together. Between his job and his music you could find him in the garage creatively working on a car.
Bernard was so proud to be a grandfather. He was constantly forwarding pictures of the twins to all of the family and almost everyone he knew. He was looking forward to going to Atlanta to meet his newborn grandchildren within the next couple of weeks.
Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his son, Darryl Briscoe,
daughter-in-law Anna Briscoe, twin grandchildren Darryl Jr. and Maylene Briscoe, daughter, Shannon Thomas, father, Charles B.
