His Life's Journey

William Mark Anthony Jenifer (Age 71) of Fort Washington, MD transitioned June 23, 2025.

Early on the morning of Monday, June 23, 2025, William Mark Anthony Jenifer "Bubby, Bug" said, "My God, you have granted me a mind to know you, a heart to know you, I pray that my conduct was pleasing to you, I have waited faithfully for you with hope of finally embracing you, please accept me into your kingdom." William transitioned into eternal life at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Washington, DC.

William was born on January 28, 1954 to Mary Elizabeth and the late, Louis Summer Jenifer in Charles County, Maryland. He lived with his family in Nanjemoy and later they moved to the Malcolm area. He attended Mt. Hope Elementary School briefly, showing signs of being advanced in learning. His mother has memories of him as a small child, riding a bike, driving his toy car, playing with his dog, holding hands with cousins, enjoying dancing, and always running and playing in the yards of their homes.

The family relocated to Hayward, California in 1959. William was educated in parochial schools. He attended St. Clemens High School briefly, then transferred and graduated from Tennyson High School in California.  William returned to Maryland to pursue post- secondary education at Coppin State College in Baltimore City. The professors recognized his abilities and assigned him to tutor other students. Missing his family and offered an opportunity to return to California, William enrolled and attended California State College.

William was sponsored by family friends for confirmation as is tradition into the Catholic faith. He sang in the youth chorus at Saint Bede Catholic Church. William was a devout Catholic, where ever he was living he found a Catholic church to attend.

William developed a strong work ethic at an early age. He worked doing odd jobs with members of Palma Ceia Baptist Church, bagged groceries at a Safeway Grocery Store, and held a job as a security guard too, like his dad. He became his parents' financial accountant at the age of 11.  Wanting to serve his country, he enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1977. William was a career service man as a specialist with aircraft armament systems, craftsman, journeyman, and an expert marksman with small arms weapons.  He received numerous awards and honors. He retired honorably in 2001 with the rank of Master Sergent and returned to California. William came out of retirement and worked at Sam's Club in Waldorf, Maryland. He was assigned various duties including management positions until his retirement in 2019. In 2005, William's family purchased property in Fort Washington, Maryland, where he resided until his death.

William had many interests, his Marvel comic books collections, reading science fiction books, watching his collection of about 4,000 movies, among them Star Wars and episodes of Star Trek, computer technology, photography, and a large collection of photos in album books and on the walls in his home. His parents instill in him the importance of family. He treasured his grandmothers and was encouraged to connect with relatives from the Carter, Chapman, Gerardo, Coates, and Jenifer families.

William was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, brother, Anthony "Tony", and uncles, George Carter Jr. (Lola), Frederick Carter, Robert Carter (Mary), Benjamin Carter, and Henry Carter, a special cousin, Shelia Carter, and other relatives from the branches of the family trees.

William leaves to miss him and keeping memories in their hearts, his loving mother Mary; his sister, Sandra K. Iglehart of Hayward, CA; a brother, Dino Bowers of San Jose, CA; nephews, James Monroe Iglehart (Dawn) of  New Jersey and Jason Iglehart of Hayward, CA; uncles; Nobel Carter (Iona) of Capitol Heights, MD, James Carter (Loretta Ann) of Hollywood, MD, Walter Carter of Nanjemoy, MD, Colbert Carter, Sr, (Joyce) of Waldorf, MD; aunts; Goldie Carter (deceased Freddie) of Forestville, MD, Dee Carter (deceased Benjamin) of Riverdale, MD, Letha Carter (deceased Henry) of Rockingham, NC;      Freddie Hall ( Marian) of Washington, DC; his cousin, Vita Cain (Saint), of Hughesville, MD and other relatives from the Carter, Jenifer, Chapman, Barnes, Makle, Dorsey, Coates, Johnson, and Wong families.
