Obituary
William Alphonso Thomas was born November 15, 1924 in Thompkinsville, Maryland to the late Joseph Thomas and Carrie Moore Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Catherine, Mildred, Dorothy Romaine and brothers, Howard, James, Milton, Calvin, Maurice and Charles.
William passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Gainesville Health Center in Gainesville, Virginia.
William served his country in the Navy. He enjoyed reading, watching television and playing cards. He also loved his children and spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted family; children, Alice Peterson, Pamela Jenkins, Deon Thomas, Robert Small, Alphonso Thomas, sons-in-law, Garey Peterson, George Jenkins, brother, Wallace Reed Thomas, sisters-in-law, Mazie Butler,Viola Jones and Hazel Thomas, and a host of grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews and other devoted family and friends.
His Viewing and Funeral Service was held on Friday, June, 17, 2011 at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
