IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wenfra Nmn
Evans, Jr.
September 11, 1946 – December 13, 2020
Wenfra Evans, Jr. (Age 74) of Fort Washington, Maryland
Wenfra was born on September 11, 1946 in Washington, DC and was the son of the late Wenfra Evans Sr. and Louise (Carter) Evans.
Wenfra attended public schools in Washington, DC and went on to Knoxville College (Tennessee) where he excelled in football. He played on offense and defense. Wenfra was a gifted athlete. His football nickname was "Skull". Wenfra also ran track at Knoxville College and obtained his degree in teaching. Wenfra retired after 35 years of being a Physical Education teacher in Washington, DC.
Wenfra enjoyed fishing with his brother Michael, his best friend Sonny and many others. He also greatly enjoyed tending his garden, beautifully landscaped yard, sudoku puzzles and movies, as well as cooking up a delicious backyard barbecue to feed his many family members and friends. He would often relax by watching his favorite basketball team, the Washington Wizards, or his NFL team, the Washington Redskins (now called the Washington Football Team). He loved going to Fort Foote Baptist Church, until he could not physically get around as well as he had before, and then faithfully watched Pastor Lyles streaming live on the Fort Foote Baptist Church website. Wenfra was a strong but sensitive man who will be missed by all who knew him. He always gave a helping hand to neighbors and friends, and gave advice on car maintenance, finances, computer issues or anything anyone needed.
Wenfra was predeceased by his first wife, Edith (Yancey) Evans, his father (Wenfra Sr.), his mother (Louise), his brother, Ronald Evans, and his sister, Michelle Evans-Tedros.
Wenfra is survived by his wife, Sandra, son, Shaun Evans (Trina) of Baltimore, MD, brothers; Gregory (Jane) of Milford, NH, James and Michael Evans of Washington, DC and sisters, Carol and Barbara Evans of Washington, DC. Wenfra is also survived by an aunt, Faye Scott, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
