Virginia Renee Johnson, age 65 of Accokeek, Maryland

Virginia Rene' Johnson answered the call from her Heavenly Father to come home on Sunday, September 28, 2025.  Rene' was born on November 26, 1959, to the late Annie Marie Lee and James Richard Lee in Abbeville County, South Carolina.

At an early age Rene' accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and attended Glovers AME Church in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. Later she joined Suitland Road Baptist Church in Suitland, Maryland and served many years in the adult choir.  She attended the Bible training where she forever spoke of the in-depth training and understanding of God's word.

She later moved her membership to Macedonia Baptist Church in Bryans Road, Maryland then attended Fort Foote Baptist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland until her health declined.

Rene' attended school in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. She graduated from Calhoun Falls High School in 1978 were received awards for academic excellence, good citizenship, athletic excellence and many other awards.   After high school, she furthered her studies at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, where she majored in accounting.

After finishing school Rene' relocated to Maryland where she met her lifelong soulmate, Vincent Johnson.  They were blessed with two wonderful children, Shana and DaVonte.'

Rene' worked at the U. S. Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland for over 25 years in accounting where she was known as the Go-To person for problem solving.

Later she took on her favorite role…!! "NaNa" to her grandchildren Mia, Ceana and Chance, they became the light of her life.

Rene' was proceeded in death by brother Darrell Lee and sister Pam Rouse Singletary.

Among those left behind to cherish fond memories, her husband of 37 years Vincent Johnson, children, daughter Shana Renee' Robinson (Cleave), of Greenville, South Carolina, son DaVonte' Vincent Johnson, grandchildren Mia Renee' Johnson, Ceana Lenee' ( CeCe) Robinson and Chance Landon Robinson. Two sisters, Vickie Lee and Vandora Lee, Three brothers, Clarence McIntosh, Terry McIntosh and Arnold Lee.  A special aunt Florine Hymes, two special cousins Ella Ruth Lee and Carol Knowles. Godmother, Faye Faison.  Father-in-law Herbert Johnson, Mother-in-Law Delores Johnson, sister-in laws Jerelyn Berry and Jocelyn Daniels (Nelson), brothers-in-law Gary Johnson and Ronnie Carlos Johnson (Octavia) and special friends Denise Bowles, Dorise' Brown, Linda Parker and Gwen Jones.

She also leaves behind five Godchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rene' loved hearts, candles, plants, smell good fragrances for herself and her home, little whatnots, shopping at Home Goods and the Lifetime movie network.

Rene' was feisty and would get you straight but, had a heart of gold and would help anyone.

Her life will continue to live in the hearts of everyone she knows and loves.

Her Viewing will be 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
