IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Viola Vera
White
May 5, 1928 – October 16, 2018
On October 16, 2018, the Lord called you home to his final resting place after a lengthy illness. Viola Vera Johnson White was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Hester Johnson. She was one of twelve children; Leon (deceased), Marylene (deceased), Lillian (deceased) Charles (deceased), Minnie (deceased), John Edward (deceased), James Robert (deceased), Irene (deceased), Addie (deceased), William (Joe) (deceased) and Della.
"Vi" or "Sock" as she was affectionately known, was born May 5, 1928 in Calvert County Maryland.
Viola was educated in the Calvert County public schools.
"Vi" enjoyed baking her famous homemade rolls, pies and gingerbread.
"Sock" enjoyed having family gatherings at her home.
She served for many years as a faithful usher at St. John's United Methodist Church.
Viola worked at Warren Denton's Oyster House in Port Republic and she was an Avon representative. "Sock" also worked at Kmart and volunteered at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
Viola was united in holy matrimony to Paul White for many years. They enjoyed traveling with friends. From this union they raised Virginia (Ginny) Johnson Thomas as their very own daughter. She dearly loved them both as her parents and had a very special bond. Virginia was an awesome caregiver with unconditional love for her parents.
The Lord recently called Viola's beloved Virginia (Ginny) Thomas on home and now they are reunited once again.
Viola leaves to cherish precious memories, her pride and joy grandson, James Thomas (Jackie), adorable great granddaughter, Morgan, one sister, Della, two sisters-in-law, Rachel Johnson and Marian Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
