Reflection of Life

Vera Pettus was born December 3, 1950 the only child of Vernon T. Pettus and Sally M. Pettus at the DC General
Hospital in Washington, DC.

On June 30, 2018, Vera received her heavenly wings and transitioned with dignity and peace.

Vera was educated through the DC Public Schools system and graduated from Anacostia Senior High School, August 1968.
Vera started her long career at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC as a medical secretary where she was a loyal
and dedicated employee for 38 years. She later retired in 2001 were she dedicated her time traveling the nation and relaxing.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents Vernon T. Pettus and Sally M. Pettus and her recently transitioned best friend, Barbara Barnes.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Charles E. Pettus and Julian Pettus;  grandson, Charles Pettus, Jr.; cousins,
Vernon and Susan Pettus, John and Geraldine, Aunt Bee and Donna Spicer; friend, Francis; devoted neighbors, and a huge circle of other friends and family.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service, 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
