Obituary
Valerie Florence Washington, 80, departed this life on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, Maryland and entered a life of eternal peace.
Valerie was born to the late Amos and Emma Dorsey on October 20, 1937 in Washington DC. She was educated in the Charles County Public School System, graduating from Pomonkey High School.
On June 20, 1962, Valerie was united in marriage to the late George William Washington. They were married for 45 wonderful years.
Valerie was a faithful member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she proudly served as a Deaconess. She enjoyed caring for others and always had an open-door policy – All were welcome in her home! She was easy to confide in and was a prime example of giving unconditional love.
Her most enjoyable moments was hosting family gatherings and of course, spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, George, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Dorsey; two brothers, Amos and Albert Dorsey: two sisters, Sylvia Bannister and Olivia Matthews and two nephews, Anthony Matthews and Poobie Dorsey.
Valerie leaves to cherish her memories; three sons, George Jr, Charles and Amos Washington; two daughters, Yvonne and Raynell Washington; fifteen grandchildren; Ishine Thompson, Africa Washington, Michelle' Coates, Valerie Swann, Cierra Washington, Carroll Gray, Mark Dorsey, Amos Washington, Jr., Delano Washington, Naduasca Verrett, Jessica Washington, Michael Washington, Ashley Stevens, Joshua Washington and Linda Washington; thirty-three great grandchildren; Essence and Nyla Thompson; Kevin Kelly, Kalia and Kennedy Tibbs, Kiersten Washington, Jisele, Carmen, Linda, Carmelo, Chloe and Gabrielle Ransome; Kira, Xavien, Isaiah and Malachi Carroll; Rose, Carroll and Alesia Gray; Mariah, Mark Jr., Aiden, Adrian, Marcel and Myles Dorsey; Anniya Washington, JNaiah Mayo; Ski, Queen, King, Reign, Messiah and Legend Verrett; one daughter-in law, Janice Washington; one son-in-law, Andre Tibbs; three grandsons-in-law, Elijah Thompson, Keith Washington and Calvin Verrett; nieces and nephews, Chrissy, Sandy, Fern, Jimmy and Steven Matthews, Katrina, Deborah and Andre Dorsey. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her Viewing will be, 9:00 am until time of Service, 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 11220 Holly Spring Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland 20662. Interment, Church Cemetery.
