Reflections of Valerie Virginia Stringer aka "Mina"
On May 21st, 2018 God extended his almighty arms of love and peace then gently took Valerie Virginia Stringer affectionately known as "Mina" to her eternal home. Valerie was born on May 4, 1959 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to Theodore Stringer and Louise Stringer (Gladden). She received her education in Prince Georges County Public Schools system by attending the following schools: Elementary; Accokeek Elementary, Middle: Eugene Burroughs and High School; Gwynn Park High where she graduated in 1977. Valerie was baptized and confessed her faith in God at an early age attending Metropolitan United Church to receive his holy word. Valerie worked for Beretta USA in Accokeek, MD from 1978 until her retirement in 2013, where she served in many roles. Valerie loved her job, friends and most of all her family. Valerie had an infectious smile, warm laugh and strong sense of family. She was so grounded and was always the glue to get family through any situation if she could help it. Valerie and her late daughter Latisha Stringer aka Rocco had their infamous saying "Say It Ain't So!" and depending on how and when they said it, the meaning could have referenced just about anything . They were 2 peas in a pod and are now reunited in the eternal life.
Valerie lived a full life and was full of life. If you knew her you also knew that her daughters, Robin McCauley (Nell), Latisha Stringer (Rocco) and grandson, Terrence McCauley Jr. (TJ) were her world and like a mother, she loved, nurtured and was always there for them at the drop of a hat. Valerie also absolutely loved and adored her parents with whom she would often visit and chat with daily. Valerie had the type of spirit and warmth that made everyone who was a friend feel like they were her best friend and make a stranger feel like a friend. There were many special people in her life. One special person was Mr. Faith Jones with whom she found companionship in her later years.
Though Valerie's health took a turn shortly before her retirement, she never let it stop her from living life nor would she let it hold her down. She always continued to be Mina through it all! You could still find her visiting, calling, texting and posting on Facebook things to those she loved. Valerie also was always that special Auntie to all her nieces and nephews and they each felt like her favorite and they each were, in their own special way. Also, being the oldest of her parent's kids she was always the big sister and nothing would stop that, not even her illness. Loving her family and friends was what she did with ease. Valerie was such a peaceful spirit with a touch of fire ball that made loving her also come with ease to everyone she met.
Valerie leaves to cherish fond memories; devoted parents, Theodore and Louise Stringer; daughter, Robin McCauley (Terrence), grandson, Terrence McCauley, Jr.; two brothers, David and Rodney Stringer (Kim); three sisters, Charlene Taylor (Vincent), Theodora Stringer and Darline Dean and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Though Valerie embraced everyone she touched, she also leaves to cherish her memories her companion Mr. Faith Jones. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Latisha Stringer, sister, Twanna Stringer, grandmother, Madeline Gladden and brother-in-law, David Dean.
