Tyrone's Journey
Tyrone Eugene Neal was called to eternal rest on November 23, 2020 suddenly in Ridgeville, South Carolina. Tyrone was one of four children, born on March 18, 1961, in Washington, DC to Mary Ethel (Woodland) Neal and Bilal Nabawi.
Tyrone lived in Santee, South Carolina. He received his education in the Charles County Public School System. Tyrone joined the United States Marine Corp and then continued his education at Morgan State University. There he became a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and loved his brothers dearly, especially Andre Thompson. Tyrone began working in the construction industry after college and became a Journeyman iron worker and worked on numerous assignments for many years. Later, Tyrone taught welding classes in the Indiana Public School System. He was proud of his student's accomplishments, especially when they won a robotics competition. After teaching, Tyrone went on to explore the country and began to work in the trucking industry. He became an instructor and trained students how to tractor trailers. Whenever possible, Tyrone and his students would stop by for a home cooked meal. He loved socializing on Facebook and shared much of his journey with family and friends.
As a young man, Tyrone played football and basketball. There were many games played on the basketball court in the backyard or in the field with the neighbors and friends. Some of Tyrone's greatest enjoyments were dressing in the finest suits along with the matching top hat and shoes. Tyrone loved to look sharp! He also loved cooking, fishing, making barbeque grills, playing the drums and talking on the phone with friends and family. As soon as he hung up with one, Tyrone was on the phone with the next person. He loved everyone and would come to Maryland and attend every event he could. Tyrone had to see his favorite cousins Bernard Chase, Margaret Smith and her husband Bill. It was must that he saw his dear friend Octavia "Niece" King as well. His band started in the basement back in the 1970s with Ollie, Cheryl, Darryl, Yvonne and Jerry. Through his life, Tyrone played the drums for many bands and had a unique way of making sounds with the Congo drum like no other.
Tyrone loved the Lord and was involved in many congregations over the years. He received a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to the St. Teresa of Avila Young Adult Choir in Washington, DC. While in Indianapolis, Indiana, Tyrone became a member of the Knights of Peter Claver and held the office of Executive Secretary. There he also received a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to the St. Rita's Mass Choir. He was also commissioned as a Minister of the Eucharist. Tyrone took communion to members of the church who could not attend mass. His tireless dedication and support towards fundraisers and activities in the church and community was recognized by the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Indianapolis Central Committee. His hard work, positive attitude and service touched so many lives.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ethel (Woodland) Neal.
