IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Toney Vernell
Ellis
October 12, 1964 – November 2, 2023
Toney Vernell Ellis was born in Victoria, VA of Lunenburg County, on October 12, 1964, to Thomas "Tommy" Bagley and Rosa Ella Jones. He departed this earthly life on November 2, 2023, in his home.
Toney was raised in Washington, DC and later moved to Forestville, Maryland with his mother and siblings. He attended DC and Maryland Public Schools. Toney worked in various positions as a cook, construction worker, landscaper, and home improvement. He was a manager at the Bay State Precast Concrete.
Company. As an entrepreneur, he was a "jack of all trades", he later started his own company with his wife, T&M Ellis Home Improvement and Landscaping, LLC. Some of his major improvements included building and restoring residential patios. He renovated his own home from inside and out. Toney loved spending time with family and was considered the family protector. He enjoyed music and being the DJ for many family "house" parties. Toney took pride in his appearance, always coordinating his outfits from head to toe. He lifted weights and played many sports as a hobby. Toney enjoyed playing football and became a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. The brothers traveled together to Dallas, TX for a football game. Toney had a warm and inviting spirit; he never met a stranger. Tony had one son, Anthony Jamal Bynum (TJ), who was his pride and joy.
Toney gave his life to Christ and was baptized at a young age; he was active in church where he sang in various choirs including the family choir. He grew in his relationship with God and later became a member of the Holy Sanctuary Church in Waldorf, MD.
He met the love of his life (Melanie) in church on an Easter Sunday in 2013. It was love at first sight. Tony and Melanie married and became inseparable. They resided in Waldorf, MD where they built a happy home, often hosting family gatherings. They enjoyed spending time together and would have date nights at the movie theater. Their successful T&M Home Improvement business was a testament of their unity and love. Melanie was by his side up to the end of his life's journey. The love and support given to Toney from his family and friends demonstrated the type of man Toney was to them.
