Tommie Lee Bateman, Sr. (Age 91) of Accokeek, Maryland.

Tommie Lee Bateman, Sr. was born September 6, 1928 to the late Frank and Pearl Bateman, in Milledgeville, Georgia.  He departed this earth on Monday, November 25, 2019.

After moving to Washington, DC, he attended Phelps Senior High School.  While attending Phelps, he met the love of his life Bernice Quarles and they were married on August 16, 1947.

He joined the United States Army, served 4 years, and received an Honorable Discharge.  He went on to work 39 years for the Federal Government at the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC.

His passions were:  fishing with his friends on his boat, hunting, playing pool, checkers, watching westerns on tv, and card games.  But more than anything else, he loved his wife and children.  He had a special relationship with each one of his children.  But most important, he accepted the Lord in his life just shy of a year ago and began to tell his children that he loved them more than ever. He was a great dad to his nine children.

Tommie leaves to cherish eight  of nine children:  Barbara Lewis (Anthony), Tommie Bateman, Jr. (Joanne), Michael Bateman (Andrea), George "Reggie" Bateman (Pinkie), Robin Moore (Donald), Maurice Bateman (Gwendolyn), Quinton Bateman (Jo Ann) of St. Louis, MO, Tammy Holder (Martin), 16 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice and his daughter Pamela "Rene".

His viewing will be, 10:00am, until time of Service, 11:00am, Monday, December 2, 2019 at Life Covenant Christian Ministries, 15522 Livingston Road, Accokeek, Maryland 20607.  Interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland 20722.
