SIMMS, THOMAS ERIC "PLUCK" (AGE 46) OF FORT WASHINGTON, MD
On Christmas Day, December 25, 2011, Thomas Eric Simms, suddenly departed this life on earth for life eternal at the Fort Washington Medical Center in Fort Washington, MD.
Thomas, or Pluck, as he was affectionately known to family and friends was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Edna and the late Frederick Simms on February 21, 1965.
Pluck attended public school in Prince Georges County but went to work early in life. He was gifted in building and worked in the area of construction pouring concrete, hanging drywall and maintenance. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Stanton Glen Apartment Complex as a Maintenance Technician.
Although a man of simple taste, Pluck enjoyed life to the fullest. He played pool, loved taking pictures, swimming and fishing. He also loved children, especially his own and his grandchildren. He can best be described as fun, happy, loving, caring and gifted.
He was proud when he was able to attend church and go to work every day. His entire family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them enjoying music at picnics, family reunions and other family functions.
He will always be remembered by his family for his favorite phrase, which was "love you."
Left to cherish many fond memories are his children, Thomas, Daniel and Keo Washington; several grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Johnson and Bernice Thompson; brothers, Frederick and Kenneth Simms; sisters-in-law, Loretta Simms and Brenda B. King-Simms; brother-in-law, Melvin Johnson, aunt, Lillian Proctor, fiancé, Deborah Johnson and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
His viewing will take place on Tuesday, January 3rd from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 6634 St Barnabas Rd, Oxon Hill, Maryland. Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.
