IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Wilson
Silliday
July 15, 1932 – March 22, 2019
Thomas Wilson Silliday (Age 86) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
On Friday, March 22, 2019, Thomas Wilson Silliday departed this life. Wilson was born on July 15, 1932 in Mount Victoria, Maryland to Theophilus Silliday and Mary Genevieve Ford.
He was educated in the Maryland School System, graduating from Bel Alton High School. Shortly after graduating he joined the Army. After being honorably discharged, he began his working career at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. He retired as General Foreman after 38 years of service.
Wilson was a proud and private person. His pride and joy in life was family. He loved them so much that he endured his children and grand children glee club and orchestra concerts, karate exhibitions, and piano recitals, never missing a graduation or special event. While accepting his son's need to tinker and take things apart Wilson would just say, "he's at it again" and walk away. When asked if he ever had any difficulties raising his children, his favorite response was "hell no, I raised my children to know shit from shinola." He was a strong and caring man with little or no filters. Wilson took great pride in working in his yard and enjoyed the reputation for having one of the best manicured lawns in the neighborhood. He also had a fondness for fast and luxury cars, his favorite vehicles were the Cadillac El Dorado and Hummer.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Silliday, daughters Jackie Trantham and Katrina Brown (Calvin), one son Sylvester Purnell (Carol), six granddaughters, Leia, Dana, LaShawn, Bridgett, Angela and Michelle; two grandsons, Ronnell and Derrick; 10 great grands; and five great-great grands and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Rice.
