Theresa Anne Burton, 87, of Washington, DC.

Theresa Ann Burton, the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Burton was born November 30,1935 in Washington, DC. She departed this life and entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2023. "Tee," as she was known by some but other friends affectionately called her "Gramps" because she was older than most of them.

She attended Brown Jr. High School in DC and Pomonkey High School in MD. She attended Holy Redeemer and later St. Cyprian's Catholic Church in DC.

Tee loved soft jazz and soft R&B music. She did a lot of volunteer service work which consisted of mentoring teens, working for several other organizations including Obama's election and received many awards for her efforts. She was active in this type of work for over 30 years.

She enjoyed playing Pinochle, Bid Whist, Spades and watching all types of sports including baseball, football, tennis and golf, especially if Tiger Woods was playing.

Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, Joe who was not just her brother but also her best friend, two nephews, Joseph Jr. "Joe-Joe," Charles "Chuck," Victoria "Vickie," and two great nieces, Shermica "Meek-Meek" and Allendra "Lynn" Burton.

She left behind a son Lawrence "Larry" Hamm and three granddaughters, Laini and Imani Hamm, Nia (Jason) Clark and great-grandson, Eli Clark, nephew James "CoCo" Burton; sister-in-law, Brenda Burton and great-nieces and nephews, Joseph III, Dania, Britney, Briana and Kelvin "Kman," great-great nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.  She also left behind a very good friend known as Runt Johnson who she hung out with and got into all kinds of devilment. It was good clean fun but they got caught doing things they should not have been doing.

Her viewing will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am on Friday, June 2, 2023, Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4595 Saint Josephs Way, Pomfret, MD 20675.  Interment Church Cemetery.
