Thelma Jeanette (Dent) Montgomery, 90 of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

On Monday, June 3, 2019, one of God's Angels spread her wings and took flight at Sagepoint Senior Living Services in La Plata, Maryland, surrounded by family.  The Angel said, "the Lord has sent for you," Mom whispered, "Lord, I'm ready."  So she put her hand in the Master's hand and went to be with the Lord.

Deaconess Thelma J. Montgomery was born July 1, 1928 to the late Mary Novella Dent and the late William Dent.  She was educated in the Charles County Public School System.  She met and married Milton Montgomery February 1, 1947.  Thelma was employed with the Charles County Board of Education in culinary until she retired.  She received numerous certificates of recognition during her years of employment.

Thelma accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age.  She was an active member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Usher Board, Missionary Board, Pastor's Aid, Who So Ever Will, Prayer Band and Helping Hand Ministries.  She was a dedicated Sunday School and Prayer service member, who attended regularly with her daughter, Rose.  Thelma was honored by her church family, November 13, 2011.

Deaconess Montgomery rejoiced in the Lord every chance she could.  Her favorite scriptures were: Proverbs 3:3-6, Psalms 105:1-5 and 121:1-8.  Her favorite hymns were: This Little Light of Mine, Walk Around Heaven and Every Praise.

She leaves to cherish memories of a life well lived with her loving husband of 72 years, Milton S. Montgomery; children: James Montgomery (Marion), Lloyd Montgomery, Kay Frances Mincey (David), George Montgomery (deceased), Gloria Proctor (Francis), Rose, Charles (Diane) and Diann Montgomery; 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sisters: Annie Stewart, Margaret Baltimore, Mary Jane Collin, Sarah Proctor and Emma Lee (Grady); brothers: James and Andy Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Viewing, 9:00 am, until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, June 14, 2019 at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church,  8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland 20662.  Interment, Church Cemetery.
