Terrell James Lewis, age 36, of Accokeek, Maryland.

Obituary

Terrell James Lewis was born on July 5, 1981 in Washington, D.C. to Cynthia E. Butler and the late James C. Lewis. He grew up in Chapel Hill and later moved to Accokeek, Maryland. He attended Princes George's Public Schools where he graduated from Gwynn Park High School.

Terrell worked several jobs after High School before taking his ideal job with the Republican National Committee in 2008 in the Administration Department as Mailroom Supervisor. Terrell loved his job, don't know if It was the job he loved, or the people he encountered on a daily basics. He greeted them all with respect, a kind smile and in some cases a friendly hug. He was quite the gentleman.

Terrell was known by his close family as Rell. His upbeat character and honest personality sometime gained him the nickname "Honest Abe." You rarely found Terrell without a smile, a kind word, or time for a conversation. Everyone's well-being was important to Terrell; he truly was an earth Angel. Terrell rarely missed a birthday, anniversary, or any special occasion; if he did, you received a call when he realized his error. He would spend hours selecting the appropriate card or gift and it truly gave him great joy to see others happy.

Terrell had love for his family. He enjoyed his special talks with his grandmother as she advised him of life's challenges. He especially loved his annual trips with his Mom, Grandmother and Aunt. He had a knack for keeping them laughing and in line. Terrell enjoyed family get togethers, reminiscing with his cousins, competitive cook offs with his aunt, grilling and couponing.

He took joy in watching his favorite shows Good Times and Sanford and Son, as he enjoyed the shenanigans of J.J, Fred, Lamont, and Grady. He also took great pleasure in watching the Christmas Story movie marathon and Harlem Nights. Nothing made Terrell smile more than his tennis shoe collection and his love for Maryland blue crabs (which became a weekly trip to Moe's Crab Shack). He also enjoyed his visits to Blue's barbershop swapping tales with Erin and others.

If you had the opportunity to meet Terrell you experienced a treat, he had a kind soul, his concern for others was first and foremost. He gave all of himself until there was no more to give. He was an old soul even in his sense of humor, he had a zest for life, and his motto was "If you don't have anything good to say about a person, don't say anything at all".

Suddenly on Saturday, June 30, 2018, Terrell James Lewis (age 36) transitioned to eternal life.  He was preceded in death by his father the late James C. Lewis; his grandmother, Elizabeth Lewis Davis; grandfathers, James (Jimmy) Butler and James Lewis; uncles, Cornelius Butler and George Lewis; his cousins, Adrian Short and Dewayne Newman.

Along with his surviving mother, Cynthia Butler; he leaves to cherish his memories, grandmother, Marion Butler; his great aunt, Alice Gray (Joseph); aunts, Ann Newman (Milton), Ponjola Short, Denise Butler and Desiree Lewis; uncles, Marcellus Butler, Anthony Lewis (Jerri), Thomas and Patrick Lewis; cousins, Antione Short (Shanetta), Keith Newman, Desmond, Dominic, Michael, Brandon and Nicole Butler; Krystle Lewis Johnson (Jerron), Brittany and Jenelle Lewis, Paris Hayes and Andrew Short. He also leaves to cherish his memories a devoted friend, Annette Henry and her son Devin. Along with a host of other relatives and friends.
