Obituary

Queen, Terrance Joseph (Age 59) of Bryans Road, Maryland.

Terrance Joseph Queen, affectionately known to family and friends as "Terry" or "Queen," was born on February 9, 1955 in Washington, D.C., to the late Pearly Parker and Mary Ann Queen.

Terry was a lifelong resident of Charles County, Maryland graduating from Lackey High School. He was employed by the Charles County Board of Education and was very proud when he received his promotion to Building Service Assistant Manager at Indian Head Elementary School, Indian Head, Maryland. Terry was a dedicated employee for 32 years and had recently retired because of his declining health. Terry could also be found working at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., either inside the building or in the yard where he would stop what he was doing to talk to anyone who stopped by. The staff would sometimes kid him about knowing when he was there because they could smell his downy fabric softener even before they saw him.

Terry was the father of three children, Derek A. Carroll, and Terrenda and Trisha Washington. He was also a grandfather to twins Kyree and Khaleb Mills, Khaleel Carroll and Madison Williams. Family was extremely important to him and he enjoyed the time he spent with them. He was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren. His maternal grandparents had the greatest influence on his life.

There were many simple pleasures that Terry enjoyed; such as going to Budds Creek Race Track, hanging out with family and friends at their home or out at the local clubs, playing the lottery or simply listening to his music. He also enjoyed cooking and would often comment on what he was going to be fixing for dinner. Celebrating birthdays was always a special time for him. His family will remember him as being hardworking, comical and loving. His daughter, Terrenda remembers riding around with her daddy and little sister, asking him "daddy, where are we going?" and his answer would always be "sit back and ride," and that's exactly what she would do.

In Terry's earlier years, he was a member of the "Fantastic 5 Club," and travelled a lot with the "Progressive Box" and also the "Soul Sister Band Club."

On Thursday, February 27, 2014, Terrance Joseph Queen surrounded by his family, transitioned to eternal life with his heavenly Father, at the Hospice House of Charles County in Waldorf, Maryland.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Queen.

In addition to his children, Derek, Terrenda and Trisha, mother, Mary, and his four grandchildren, his memory will also be cherished by his sisters, Iris M. Queen, Tina M. Kelton, Ronise M. Savoy, Tamara F. Queen, Crystal D. Queen and Zenia A. Dunn; brothers, Nathan J., Jarred E. and Marcus W. Queen; sister-in-law, Tammy Queen; brother-in-law, Kelvin R. Dunn; uncle, James Queen; aunts, Margaret L. Queen and Dorothy E. Queen; companion of many years, Thomasine "Toni" Washington; godson, Terrance Gray and a host of nieces, nephews and friends he called his "brothers."
