Remembering Terrall

A TIME TO BE BORN

Terrall Elizabeth Carter was lovingly born on September 29, 1958, to the proud parents of the late Benjamin Keith (Brother) and Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Carter in the District of Columbia.  She was the first born to enter the family circle.  From the moment she was placed in their arms, she snuggled right into their hearts.  She was an adorable baby who was always beautifully dressed in pink fancy clothes and cute patterned-leather black shoes with little bows on top.  There were lots of photographs of their new bundle of joy who was forever ready to smile for the camera.  OH Yes, her arrival brought a symphony of laughter, an abundance of cuddles, and a lifetime of cherished memories.

A TIME FOR GOD

Terrall was a faithful servant in her relationship with God.  She would read and study the Word of God daily.  She knew Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and He was her deliverer, provider, protector and her solid rock at all times.  She was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and if there was an opportunity to share His goodness and grace she would - even to a stranger.  She has gone to glory truly understanding the scripture "His lord said unto him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord.'" Matthew 25:21-23

A TIME FOR LOVE

There is nothing quite like a mother's love.  Terrall saw her two daughters, Jerrell and Serena as a gift from God.  When they were born her heart was filled with love and as a mother, she was proud of every moment, achievement, and milestone that her daughters would reach.  She was a mother who watched over her young daughters as they matured into young women by nurturing and guiding their footsteps through life's journey.  There was nothing too great nor too small she would do for her daughters.  Terrall lived her life as a virtuous mother who deserves all the praise and honor for going above and beyond by showing and offering her unselfish love, wisdom and strength and so much more to her daughters.  They were her pride, joy and the center of her world.

A TIME FOR EDUCATION & WORK

Terrall attended Prince George's public schools and graduated from Suitland High School in 1976. Soon after graduation she entered the world of employment with the Department of Navy working in various positions for over 20 years.  She was a devoted and loyal public servant who loved her job and was always willing to go the extra mile to accomplish any task given to her.  Terrall's co-workers were more than someone she worked with they also became her close friends.  She received several accolades, acknowledgements, awards, and certificates for her outstanding contributions to the mission of the Department of Navy. She will surely be missed as one of the faithful's who could be depended upon to get the job done.

A TIME FOR LAUGHTER & FAMILY

Terrall carried a friendly smile on her face and her laughter was contagious.  Her personality was easy to embrace and of course she would leave a lasting impression on those she met. She loved family gatherings and would attend them, but she had a reputation among the family – she would ALWAYS be late.  Terrall was last person to show up when everyone was on their way out the door.  But she was great at convincing you to stay a little longer to chat.   She loved being teased and had a good sense of humor about her lateness.  The family came to realize that she purposely would be late just to uphold her famous late reputation.  Terrall will be certainly remembered for having good conversations but was great at making a short story longgggggg.  Even a quick phone conversation could easily turn into at least a couple of hours.  Also, Terrall inherited her desire and taste for steamed crabs, just like her Mama.  Her mother would eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner and so would Terrall, as well as Rhonda and Ben.  There is so much to share about Terrall but one of the most important things to remember is that she was an extremely caring, kind-hearted, and a loving person who brought joy to so many.  Co-workers, family, etc.

A TIME TO CHERISH SWEET MEMORIES

Terrall will be in our hearts forever.  While our loved one has joined our Heavenly Father her spirit shall live on.  Her acts of goodness, love, compassion, concern for others will never be forgotten.  She leaves to cherish in her loving memory, two daughters Jerrell Phoebe and Serena Heather Crumlin; brother: Benjamin Keith, Jr (Carolyn) Carter; sisters: Rhonda (Roy) Hopson and Toya (Benjamin) Butler; nephews: Rodney Doss, Ruston Hopson, Benjamin Carter III; nieces: Kierra Carter, Natalie & Whitney Butler; aunts: Barbara Ann Jameson, Mary Christine Proctor, Rev. Dr. Ruby (James) Thomas; uncles: Elwood, William (Wendy) Brown; best friends: Dale Marshall and Karen King. Lots of cousins and a host of other family and friends.

A TIME TO SAY FAREWELL

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, the Lord sent His angel to bring His daughter Terrall Elizabeth (Carter) Crumlin home. Terrall was preceded in death by her parents the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Carter.

Dear Terrall – A Believer - Receive your Eternal Rest

In 2 Corinthians 5:8, the Apostle Paul writes, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  This expression "absent from the body" refers to physical death. When this life ends, believers will be immediately ushered into the glorious presence of the Lord.  Because Terrall is a believer she will see Him face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12). And, at this moment, Terrall is now "present with the Lord."
