On June 11, 1942, in Washington, DC, John and Alberta Lee were blessed by the birth of identical twin boys; they named one Steven Spencer Lee, affectionately nicknamed, Stevie, the other was named Spencer.
Steven was educated in the District of Columbia school system and graduated from Armstrong High School. He was employed by the District of Columbia Department of Public Works and later worked as a Resident Manager until retirement. As a youth, he was also a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
Family was very important to Steven. His twin brother Sterling was most influential in his life. He was proud of his children and grandchildren. Their accomplishments were considered his accomplishments. Steven enjoyed talking to and interacting with his grandchildren. He was a very protective grandparent. One of his greatest assets was his sense of humor and another was his friendly disposition. He was the type of person who made friends easily and had the ability to maintain friendships. Steven's interests included drawing, playing lottery and working on nice cars.
Steven was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Lee Turner; parents, John Lewis Lee and Alberta Bernice Lee; identical twin brother, Sterling Lee and brother, Calvin "Butch" Lee; grandparents, Harold and Ida Mae Lee; mother-in-law, Flossie Westbury and father-in-law, James Westbury, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories; sons, Jimmy Fogle and Steven Lee, Jr; daughter, Sherree Lee Breeding; grandchildren, Tome Street, D Sean Littles, Carlisha Merchant, Rhakea and Demitri Chestnut, Karlyle Hill, Jr., Jessica Breeding, Dillon Breeding, Kameron Jones and Alexis Breeding; son-in-law, Glen Breeding; sister, Mary Vaughan; brothers, Lowell "Sunnie" Atlee and James "Jimmie" Lee; sister-in-law, Agetha "Tina" Wiles (Edward, Sr.); aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
