Shirley Ann Posey, 76, Nanjemoy, Maryland.
Peacefully departed on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Shirley Posey was born on July 14, 1939 to the late Harry Bailey and Minnie (Thomas) Mandue.
She was a faithful wife to Francis and dedicated mother to her children Clifton, Patricia and Vanetta Posey.
She was a graduate from Pomonkey High School, self-employed in various occupations and retired from the Charles County Board of Education.
She lived her entire life in the Nanjemoy/Ironsides area but enjoyed traveling, sewing and cooking. People traveled far and wide just to dine on her dinners. She was known for her delicious hummingbird, coconut, applesauce and pound cakes.
She loved the Lord. She was baptized at an early age, devoted her life to her church and was a loyal member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith in Ironsides, Maryland for over 40 years. She had a special relationship with Pastor and General Overseer Bishop Omega who treasured her loyalty, dedication and commitment. She faithfully served in various positions in her church and served as senior administrator for more than 33 years.
She was kind, sweet, compassionate, caring, gentle, always graceful, never uttering a harsh word, a lady of distinction, truly one of God's saints.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories – husband Francis Posey, son Clifton Posey, daughters Patricia Riley and Vanetta Posey, brother James (Rev. Ruby) Thomas, sister Rachel (Larry) Swann, grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and many more relatives and dear friends who will truly miss her quiet spirit.
