Sherwood Johnson "Sonny" 78 of Indian Head, Maryland

Sherwood was born February 26, 1941 in Charles County Maryland.

On September 12, 2019 Sherwood transitioned into eternal life at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland.

Sherwood was educated in the Charles County public school system.

Sherwood was employed with the Charles County Detention Center where he later retired. He was a jack of all trades and during his life he had a variety of jobs such as construction, cab driver, tractor trailer driver, junk man and postal worker as well as a security guard to some well know celebs such as James Brown, Joe Tex, Roy C, Clarance Carter and Aretha Franklin, just to name a few.

Sherwood was a very talkative, strong willed man of many talents and was always willing to help anyone, but you didn't want to get on his bad side. He was the backbone of his family and loved having his grandchildren around him. His favorite saying was "All I want is my girls to be good."

Sherwood had a special love for oldies and blues music. He was an avid Redskins fan. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, playing the lottery as well as being able to see and provide for his family. He also loved to read his Bible

Sherwood was preceded in death by his wife Linda; mother Sadie; father William; sisters Sarah Heard, Dorothy Carter, Shirley Johnson, Elenor Johnson; brothers James, Charles and his twin brother Edward; grandsons Demonte Johnson and Corey Johnson, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Juley Smoot (Ron), Sherflon Johnson, April Dixon, Sherry Johnson, Sherene Johnson, Octavia Johnson -Faneye (Olaekan), Jessica Johnson; sisters, Barbara Dyson, Betty Meadows (Robert); brother, Thomas Johnson, 36 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews relatives and many friends.

His Viewing will be, 10:00 am, until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, October 4, 2019 at Anchor Baptist Church, 10440 Crain Highway, Faulkner, Maryland 20632.
