Obituary

Shemia Cherice Wright, affectionately known as "Mia," was granted her angel wings on June 12, 2013. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Mia was born August 28, 1979 to Joseph E. Bowman Jr. and Cherie L. Robertson. She was educated in the Maryland Public School System and graduated from Largo High School. Mia accepted the Lord at an early age and recently joined the Bowie New Life Assembly Church, under the leadership of Pastor Charles M. Galbreath.

On September 20, 2008, Mia married the love of her life, Andre Wright, and out of that union two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Ava, were born. Mia adored her girls and showered them with love. She was famous for taking pictures of the girl's spring and summer clothing collection to include matching shoes and sharing them with family and friends via the Internet. Mia enjoyed spending family time with Andre and the girls to include, walks in the park, Chuckie Cheese and giving the girls Hollywood themed birthday parties. Mia wore high fashion clothing, six inch heels and sported many different hair styles. She was a true Diva!

Mia was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in downtown Washington, D.C. as a Human Resource Assistant for six years until she became too ill to work.

Mia is survived by her husband Andre Wright, daughters Taylor and Ava Wright of Fort Washington, MD; Parents Cherie L. Robertson of Forestville, MD, and Joseph E. Bowman Jr. (Joann) of Charles Town, WV; four sisters Jolisa and Jasmine Bowman of Forestville, MD and Mahogany Tobias (Carmichael) and Eboni Haire of Baltimore, MD; paternal grandmother, Rosetta Bowman of Charles County, MD; maternal grandfather, Luther Robertson of Milwaukee, WI, Mother and Father-In-Law, Andre & Saundra Wright of Fort Washington, MD; Brother-in-Law, Brandon Wright; Nephew, Kato Wright of Fort Washington, MD; Grandmother-in-law, Veretta Harden of Washington, DC; Grandparents-in-law, Bernice and Leroy Ingram of Upper Marlboro, MD; Her Best Friends Forever(BFF) and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Grandmother, Zelder Mae Swailes and Grandfather, Joseph E. Bowman Sr. preceded Shemia in death.

Her viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am on Thursday, June 20th at Bowie New Life Assembly Church, 17214 Queen Anne Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774.
