Shelley Trenail Smith was born on November 28, 1969 in Los Angeles, California to Emma Jean and Freddie William Bowman. Shelley was the youngest of three children from this union. Shelley was raised in Maryland and graduated from Lackey High School in 1988. She also attended medical school to obtain her Nursing Assistant certification. Shelley was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, The Department of Finance and Administration, and the U,S. Postal Service for 15 years.

Shelley had a very huge heart, a winning smile, and a very infectious personality. If you ever came in contact with Shelley she left a lasting impression on you. Shelley accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. One of the last Scriptures she wrote in her journal was Psalm 30:2 "O Lord My God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me".

On Friday, December 24, 2021, Shelley entered into eternal rest, now resting in the arms of our Lord. She was preceded in death by her sister Deverge Epkin. Shelley leaves to cherish her memories husband, Richard Smith; parents Emma Jean and Freddie William Bowman; only son Sidney Bowman; step-daughter Rickia Watts; brother Frederick Bowman; niece Crystal (Geoffrey); nephews Akeem and Dun Jour; great-niece Christian; great-nephews Ashtian, Jourdyn and Julian, and we can't forget Chancellor and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Funeral Service has been scheduled for  Saturday, January 8th. The visitation is 12noon until time of memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD. Interment private.
