Obituary

Suddenly on April 20, 2011 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland, Sheila Elaine Munson Marshall departed this earthly life for life eternal. She was born on July 8, 1957 in Washington, D.C. to Mildred Catherine Ford Munson and the late John William Munson.

She started her education attending the District of Columbia Public Elementary School but transferred to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School where she completed Elementary School and graduated. She then attended Saint Cecelia's Academy High School and received her High School Diploma.


After graduation, Sheila took some college courses. But she later decided to accept employment with the Federal Government where she established a dedicated career for thirty three years. Although she worked for the Department of State for the greater portion of her federal career, she also worked for the Thrift Savings Board and most recently with the Department of Defense as a Human Resources Specialist until her untimely death. In her tenure at the State Department she met President William "Bill" Clinton, First Lady Hilary Clinton, and many other dignitaries. She loved going on the Presidential trips overseas with these individuals and her co-workers.


While working for the Federal Government she met and married Robert Allen Marshall, Sr. (Bobby), August 1982, a union that lasted nearly 29 years. From this union, one son, Robert Allen Marshall, Jr. (BJ) was born. Sheila was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She received the sacraments of Holy Communion, Confirmation and Holy Matrimony at Our Lady.


She had many fine qualities. She loved helping her family. She was full of laughter and love. She was very family oriented. She loved to travel on small trips with her granddaughters, husband, and son. She loved to take other family trips as well. Family functions were her love. She was a great Godmother, a dear and loving sister, a loyal friend, a great confidant, a very devoted and loving wife and mother and a very loving daughter. When she was young, she loved to write poetry, sing, dance, roller skate, crochet, etc.


She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert A. Marshall, Sr. (Bobby), loving and dear son, Robert A. Marshall, Jr. (BJ), two loving granddaughters, Michelle and Jazmine Marshall, a dear mother, Mildred C. Munson, one dear and loving sister Sharon B. Munson, two loving brothers, Albert Munson (Veronica) and Michael Munson; mother-in-law, Gloria Marshall, five aunts, Beatrice Washington, Agnes Chase, Inez Matthews and Roberta Johnson, Mary Jones, Sylvia Lawrence, two uncles, Matthew Ford and John Ford, four sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held at 9am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11am, Friday, April 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1600 Morris Road, S.E., Washington, D.C. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
