Sharon Marie Burgess-Anderson of Waldorf, MD transitioned August 2, 2026.

Sharon Marie Burgess-Anderson was born October 16, 1949 in Chicago IL. The first daughter of Ottawa D. Burgess and Lillie O. Burgess. She attended Chicago Vocational High School and Dominican University where she received her Master’s Degree.

Sharon married the love of her life, Jerrold Anderson Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union Sharon was Bonus Mom to Lindsay Lee and Jerrold Anderson Jr.

Sharon was a class act whether she was working with colleagues at American Airlines or in the City of Chicago Procurement Department where she managed purchasing contracts and supplies through all city platforms. Upon retirement Sharon and Jerrold relocated to Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Being the trailblazer that she was, retirement was not her final chapter. She rose to the challenge of helping people by working with the US Government in Washington DC.

Those who knew Sharon can testify to her brilliance, class, grace, humor and love. It was her caring nature you could feel while in her presence. Family was everything to her. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother to Christopher, Darrion and Lori. Sharon enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and entertaining. Sharon really enjoyed being with friends, dancing and spectacular at being a wine connoisseur.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Ottawa and Lillie Burgess, her husband, Jerrold Anderson Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Debra Bourgeois, Nephew, Larhone Miles (Ranata), Niece, Brandy Burgess-Murry (Jason), bonus daughter, Lindsay Lee (Rennie), bonus son, Jerrold Anderson Jr., Grandchildren, Christopher, Darrion, Lori, Madison and Jerrold III, a great nephew and niece, great-great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the family Thursday, September 3 from 10 am until time of memorial service at 11 am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment immediately to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.
