Sean Michael Thomas, Sr. of Waldorf, Maryland.
Sean Michael Thomas, Sr., 62, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on May 29, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born on November 23, 1963, he entered the world as the beloved third child of Leroy and Blanche Thomas in Washington, DC. Sean lived a life defined by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.
Sean devoted his career to Pepco Holdings, where he started as a guard and through his tenacity and dedication moved up the ladder to become a Substation Technician. For a career totaling an extraordinary 36 years before retiring. Throughout his tenure, he built a spotless professional reputation, a distinction that stood among his proudest achievements. Beyond his technical expertise, Sean found deep fulfillment in training and mentoring younger colleagues, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from him.
Sean became a proud Dad on his 30th birthday with the birth of his son Sean M. Thomas, Jr. On November 12th 2008, Sean married the love of his life, Elaan Thomas, and together they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and love. Those who knew Sean understood that his personality carried a wonderful range. He could be quietly reflective one moment and suddenly gregarious and bold the next, filling a room with his infectious energy and great sense of humor. He loved nothing more than talking sports with his son and friends, passionately following his beloved Washington Commanders and professional basketball. Sean was also an avid and fearless swimmer who, while on family vacations, was always the first off the boat and into the choppy ocean waters, embracing life with characteristic boldness.
Sean is survived by his devoted wife, Elaan Thomas; his son, Sean M. Thomas, Jr.; his mother, Blanche J. Thomas; his father, Leroy A. Thomas; his brother, Russell Thomas(Patrice); his sister, Karen Thomas; his nephew, Brian Thomas, and great nephew, Riley Thomas-Jackson. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and extended family members along with a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and fellow sports enthusiasts who will miss his companionship dearly.
May those who mourn find comfort in the knowledge that Sean's love remains a guiding light, and in these words that speak to the hearts of all who grieve:
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
