Obituary

Ruth Ann King (Age 78) of Bryans Road Maryland.

Missionary Ruth Ann Ferrell King was born on July 19, 1941 to her parents, Aleatha L. Dixon, and John Ferrell.   She was called to take her place in Glory on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland.

Ruth Ann grew up in Bryans Road, Maryland and received her formal education in the Charles County Public School System.  She began her employment career at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland.  After 36 years of service, she retired in 2003.

At an early age, Ruth Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Bryans Road, Maryland.  Ruth Ann accepted the gift of Salvation and served faithfully on numerous ministries at Macedonia.  She was a member of the Missions Team Ministry, Chaplain of the Seniors Ministry, member of the Culinary Arts, Choir and Ushers Ministry.

She enjoyed Bible Study, Sunday Church School and Worship Service.   Ruth Ann had a heart of gold!  There was nothing she would not do for the Lord and His people.

Ruth Ann was a rock and pillar of her family, the cornerstone upon which our unwavering love for her and each other will continue to grow.   She never missed a family reunion or any family outings.  Ruth Ann was fun, energetic, and full of life.  She was a huge fan of TV shows: Judge Judy and If Loving You Is Wrong .

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Aleatha L. Dixon, and John Ferrell; son, Shawn Johnson; sister, Everdene Joyce Jordan; and brothers, James-Willie, Isador, Roger, and Ricky Cox.

She was married to the late Edward King until 1965 and from their union three children were born:  Andre, Monica (Mousie), and William (Petie).  She was also the mother of the late Shawn Johnson, son of James Johnson.   She is survived by her brother, Calvin Dixon (Earnestine); sister, Suzette Cox; grandchildren:  Jessica Ford, Daurice Johnson, Erin Cole, and Tasia Goldring; step grandchildren:  Tony Yates, Arlene Yates, and Shawndale Yates; and great granddaughter, Diznee Robinson.  Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memory her beloved and oldest living Aunt Alice "Eudora" Chisley and oldest living cousin, Geraldine Woodland.  She also leaves to rejoice in her memory her best friends:  Beverly Washington, Rena Bland, and Penny Lawson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth Ann was blessed and will be missed by everyone.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, May 30th,  from 10 am until time of service 11 am at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD. Interment to follow at Macedonia Baptist Church, Bryans Road, MD.
