Rudolph Cleveland "Rudy" Posey Jr., was born on March 29, 1957 in Washington, D.C. He was the eldest son to Rudolph Cleveland Posey, Sr., and Pauline Wilkerson Posey. He departed this life on June 21, 2020 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland.
Rudy grew up in Nanjemoy, Maryland where he attended Charles County Public Schools and gradu-ated from Lackey High School in 1975. Upon graduation from high school, Rudy moved to Chester, Pennsylvania and was employed with the Chester Shipyard as a Sandblaster and Welder. It was in Chester, that he met the love of his life, Wanda Mosely.
Upon returning to Maryland, Rudy held several positions including, Security Guard at Naval Ord-nance Station, Indian Head, Maryland, where he received many accolades and awards. He was also employed by the Charles County Government and Rod's Window Cleaning Service.
Rudy was a loving and caring father and he was devoted to the care of this parents. Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with family and friends. He was well known throughout the com-munity, always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile. Rudy played an instrumental role in fund raising for the youth Braves football league. He had a humorous personality and a caring, loving spirit. Rudy's contagious smile would light up a room. He was also known for his unique sense of style.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Rudy loved camping, fishing, dancing, shooting pool and playing horseshoes. He was truly the life of the party. He will be missed by many and never forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Rudy is survived by three children, Rudy (Sheree), Randell (Deirdre), and LaWanda; 11 grandchildren, Alazia, Aliyah, Armani (Tank), Giovani, Taylor, Dorian, Austin, Braylin, Nasza, Andre', Phalisyear; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedi. He also leaves to cherish his memories, four brothers, Marty (Georgia "Jo-Jo"), Theron (Lynn), Torraize, and Dorian (Jeanette "Cookie"); two sisters, Juanita Smallwood (Lloyd), and Lisa Davis (Dale); two uncles, James Myers and Clarence Gray, god-parents, Thomas L. Butler, Sr., and Patricia (Aunt) Butler; a devoted friend, Vondell Price and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
His viewing will be held from 10am until 12 noon on Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery, Ironsides, Maryland.
