IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy
Hopson
May 20, 1941 – May 5, 2023
Roy Hopson, 81, of Heathsville, Virginia.
Our beloved Roy Hopson affectionately known as "Big Roy" came into this world on May 20, 1941 the oldest of four children born to Dorothy and George Hopson. Roy grew up surrounded by his loving family in the Cherry hill neighborhood of Baltimore city. He loved his siblings dearly and was especially close to his cousins who were like siblings. Roy met the love of his life Patricia in that same neighborhood living just a few blocks from each other. Roy and Pat lovingly joined hands in marriage on May 16, 1964. Roy and Pat spent over 60 beautiful years together in love. Out of this union came three wonderful children whom he adored.
Roy was an adventurous and fun loving person. He enjoyed riding in his jeep "Roy Toi" with the top down, spending time on his boat, drinking a few brewskis and living life to the fullest. He loved to ride horses, play cards and party all night. He was a jokester who loved to prank his family and friends, he always kept a smile on our faces. Roy was known for his sense of style, always dressed to impress with a nice hat to match. A lover of music, he kept jazz playing throughout the house daily. He spent a lot of time traveling with the family to many exciting destinations.
Roy spent time as a golf caddy in his younger years; he truly enjoyed the game of golf. He was employed as a construction worker for over 30 years and a proud member of Local Union 710. He was a hard worker who always provided for his family. Roy was a member of the Cherry Hill Presbyterian church. He was a fighter throughout many surgeries, long term illness and despite the pain he still smiled. Roy was the joy and light of our family. He will be deeply missed.
