On Thursday, February 1, 2018, Rose Marie Matthews departed this earthly life at the Charles County Hospice House, in Waldorf Maryland and entered into eternal rest in the presence of God and her family.
Rose was born on November 24, 1945 to the late Gladys Mae Rolley.
She was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head, Maryland and received her education through the Charles County School System. She retired from the Charles County School Board after of 20 years.
Rose was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family and friends and they loved her. She was a very quiet and loving woman who believed in taking care of her family no matter what it took.
Rose had several interests; going to the movies, watching Young and the Restless; keeping up on the latest news, shopping, attending church, gospel programs, taking daily walks, and spending time with her family and friends.
Rose was preceded in death by James Wills (significant other).
She leaves to cherish her memories four children; Cheryl Milstead, Stephanie Lassiter, (George), Francis Milstead, and Lisa Hawkins (Pierre); four grandchildren; Anthony Swann (Andrea),Tiara Milstead, Terry Proctor Jr; and Parris Hawkins; four great grandchildren; Sanaa Milstead, Londyn Milstead-Pinkney, Terry (Trey} Proctor, and Zachary Swann; one sister Theresa Rolley, one niece; Tyra Livingston, two great nieces Jay'da Owens and India Livingston, one Aunt; Agnes Smith; and one Special niece La Joy Matthews; three Godchildren Tracy and Christian Matthews; and Shawn Thomas.
Viewing, 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Mass of Christian Burial, 12 noon, St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland.Viewing
