Ronea Teasheke Posey

Ronea Teasheke Posey quietly departed this life on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. Ronea succumbed to critical injuries which she sustained in a fire inside her apartment on December 24, 2025.

Ronea was born to Ronald L. Posey and the late Tijuana Veronica Spriggs. She attended Prince Georges County Public Schools. In 2008, Ronae gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Victory Baptist Church in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. In 2016 during a Thanksgiving Church Service, Ronea re- committed her life to Christ during the service with Evangel Assembly of God Church in Camp Springs, Maryland.

Ronea was married to David Griffin (deceased) and out of this union gave birth to two daughters: 17-year-old Denae Stallace Nichole Richards and 15-year-old Destiny Tia-Faith Richards. She also gave birth to 11-year-old Tavon King Issac Posey. Ronea loved her children and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Ronea was always running against or with the wind. Her life was not one of white picket fences, lilies and roses. Despite her experiences, challenges and struggles, she did not give up. She did not let anything consume her. She kept pressing and did not let grass grow under her feet. On April 8, 2015, Ronea was struck by a motor vehicle and sustained multiple injuries resulting in her being partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Again, Ronea was savvy and resourceful and did not let grass grow under her wheels. She kept life moving.

Ronea lived in the Future Care Assisted Living Facility from 2015-2023. In June 2023, she moved into her own assisted living apartment. She was very happy to regain and enjoy her independence. Ronea was a beautiful, charismatic, and resourceful person who possessed lots of wit and charm. Ronea loved fashion and hair. Ronea enjoyed being with her family. Her personality was booming and hilarious at the same time. She had a beautiful smile and an escalating laugh.

Ronea is preceded in death by her mother, Tijuana Veronica Spriggs, grandmother, Lucille Shorter (aka Honey) grandparents, Donald and Sylvia Posey. She leaves to cherish her memories: Father: Ronald L. Posey (Lotetha), children: Denae, Destiny and Tavon, brothers: Cameron Posey, Anthony Dewayne Wilson, and Ricky McConnell, aunts, & uncles, a special cousin, Kim, Duane and Dawn Lassiter and family, nieces, nephews, Godson, a host other cousins and friends.
