Obituary

RONALD FRANCIS McKAY (72) OF WHITE PLAINS, MARYLAND.

Ronald Francis McKay was born December 18, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Sophia Eleanor McKay. Ronald was affectionately known as "Tenny" and "Pop Pop," a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

On Monday, July 20, 2020, at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, Ronald transitioned and gained his wings to be with the Lord. Ronald received his education from District of Columbia public schools. On June 18, 2005, he married the love of his life, Vanessa Mary McKay and his love for his wife was unconditional. Ronald adored and cherished his wife. They shared over 15 happy years of friendship, commitment and love.  Ronald treasured his wife and every moment they spent together.  Ronald accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior soon after their marriage and was a member of The Lord's Church of Restoration in Clinton, Maryland. He worked for Melwood Horticultural Training Center Incorporated for 18 years and received many acknowledgments and awards of appreciation for his hard work and dedication.

Ronald had a passion for music; he was a member of "The Platinum Band," shaking his tambourine with pride. His favorite hobby was to sing karaoke on his personal karaoke machine and he was the life of the party at all family functions. He loved hand dancing, not a person could compete with his two step or fancy footwork. He would often say "Don't watch my feet".

Ronald was a die-hard Redskins fan. He did not miss a game. No one could tell him that the Redskins were not the number one team of the NFL.
Ronald loved to travel. His two favorite places to go were the Poconos and Virginia Beach. On cruises he was the "karaoke king," people always thought he was a part of the cruise performance team.

Ronald was truly loved and will be missed whole heartedly by his family.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Sophia Eleanor McKay, maternal grandmother, Eleanor H. McKay, aunt, Catherine Dyson, son, Jon Jeffrey Brooks, cousins, Thomas "Dickie" Dyson and Jean Dyson, father-in-law, Louis Matthews, Sr. and mother-in-law, Barbara Matthews.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Vanessa McKay; sister, Adrienne McKay (Maurice), children, Selena Davis, Jason Brooks and Earline "CeCe" McKay (Kenny), grandchildren, Londyn, Malachi, Mason, Marcia and Eleyna, sister in-law, Vivian Fenwick, three brothers-in-law, Louis Matthews, Jr. (Jolinda), John Matthews, Sr. (Betty) and Derek Matthews, Sr. (Tawanda), two nieces, Tamika McKay and Vanessa McKay, longtime friends, Nathaniel McCoy, Lloyd Heart and Tony Williams, Sr., along with a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends.
