Obituary

PETERSON, ROBIN ALYSSA (AGE 26) OF HYATTSVILLE, MARYLAND

Robin Alyssa Peterson was born December 15, 1995 in Silver Spring, Maryland to Patrick O. Peterson and Felicia D. Sallis-Peterson. She was the first born of two siblings. Robin transitioned to be with the Lord on January 8, 2022.

In 2013, Robin graduated from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at Central High School in Capitol Heights, Maryland.  She was very active in many programs and projects - too many to count. Robin was active in Student Government and a member of the girls' soccer team.  She was a LearnServe International Fellow.  Through this fellowship, she travelled to Paraguay in South America and Jamaica in the Caribbean to perform community service for Third World countries. She earned the Central High School Outstanding Achievement Merit Scholastic Award and the Prince George's Kiwanis Club Citizenship Award.

Robin went on to attend Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk Virginia where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications in 2017. While at Virginia Wesleyan she joined numerous clubs, organizations and activities including her stellar performance as the character Cobweb in A Midsummers Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.   She thoroughly enjoyed college campus life and took full advantage of all the school and the area had to offer.

After graduation Robin was an office assistant at Palmercare Chiropractic in Washington, D.C.  At the same time she was working on her Masters Degree in English and Education with the hope of becoming a teacher.

Robin lived her life just the way she wanted.   She was very active and supportive in the LGBTQ+ movement, where she respected everyone's individuality. Robin was always a happy person. She always saw the best in everyone. She was always positive.  She loved her family, friends and especially her partner,  Brooke.

Robin leaves to cherish and celebrate her life - her mother, Felicia; her father, Patrick; her brother, JB Peterson; her partner, Brooke Groce;  her grandmothers, Rosa Sallis and Yvonne Peterson; her grandfather, Sylvester Peterson; her aunts, Peggy Thompson, Deborah Cureton, Lela Sallis, Benita Green,  Joanne Simms and Vanessa Peterson;  her uncles, Jerry Sallis, Anthony Peterson, Chris Peterson, Vernon Peterson; her two cats, Socks and Star;  and a host of family  and friends.
