Major Robert "Bob" Golsby, USAF Retired, Ph.D. (Age 72) of Bowie, MD
Robert "Bob" Golsby was born August 22, 1943 in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green Golsby and Rosa Cook. He was also preceded in death by his only sister Catherine "Cat" Golsby who he was very close to.
"Bob" attended Western Olin High School where he starred in baseball and football. His football scholarship enabled him to attend Tuskegee Institute where he completed a BS in Commercial Engineering and entered the United States Air Force as an officer.
Second Lieutenant Robert Golsby served his country proudly for 20 years. He survived stints in several countries including Viet Nam and climbed the ranks to the title of Major when he retired in 1985. His second life in the armed forces included achieving a position of leadership as Deputy Director of Logistics, US Navy Military, Dept. of Defense. He retired after 25 years of service in 2010.
Robert found true happiness and has spent the last 30 years with the love of his life Audrey Renee Golsby whom he lovingly refers to as "Pooch". Not only were they in love, they were truly best friends – able to laugh at and with each other. He was always quick with wit, sharp with tongue, fun loving and fun to be around. He had an enormous heart and always, always, willing to help. He touched the lives of so many both personally and professionally.
Robert departed this life on Friday, July 22, 2016. Those who mourn his passing include his wife and companion for the past 30 years, Audrey Renee Golsby, his children, Tyree Golsby(Antoinette) and Kirsten" Kissy" Golsby; Son Kelvin Tyree (Verdonia); Grandchildren -Jonas, Arianna and Marissa Golsby; Alex, Kevin and Kiera Tyree; "Uncle Robert's nieces" Rhonda Fay Ray (deceased) Cynthia Okwudiri of Tracy, CA, Terri Phipps (Addie), Erica Glasco Leonard (Mario), and nephew Vincent Glasco, all of Birmingham, AL.; neice Debra Moore (Kenneth) of Altanta, Ga. Special Aunt, Ruby Tucker, Birmingham,AL; cousins Mark Clark, Richard Clark and Laverne Clark, of New York/ New Jersey.
