Robert Bartlett, affectionatelly known as Bobby, was born on October 19, 1945, in Washington, D.C., to the late Aldine and Walter Bartlett. On July 5, 2026, Robert peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family.
As the oldest of six children, Robert helped set the example for his siblings throughout his life. He received his education through the District of Columbia Public School system and went on to develop a strong work ethic that would define much of his life. Bobby worked in welding and barbering before dedicating more than 20 years of service as a Security Officer, where he was known for his professionalism and dependability.
Bobby, also known as “Mr. B,” had a passion for fashion. His sharp suits and stylish top hats reflected his unique sense of style, but dancing was where he truly came alive. He was always impeccably dressed, and his dapper appearance became one of his trademarks. Though he was a man of few words, his bright smile, quiet confidence, and warm presence could capture the attention of any room he entered.
Above all else, Bobby treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for his children and grandchildren was unwavering, and he took great pride in watching his family grow through the generations.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Aldine and Walter Bartlett; his sister, Nancy Bartlett; his son, Bryant Murphy; and his grandson, Ronald Douglas-Gooden.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children: Robert Jr., Robin “Muffin,” Barbra, Theresa, Brenda, and Morgan. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Carolyn, Mary “Teenie,” Patricia “Cupcake”; and his brother, Richard “Ricky”.
Robert’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Mariah, Trevon, Tamia, Briana, Shaquay, Jamiyah, Krystian, Vontre, Teijae, Bella, and his great-grandson, Jamir.
Bobby’s life was a testament to quiet strength, dignity, style, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
