Obituary

Regina Cecelia Washington was born on January 12, 1925 to the late George and the late Mary Gray. She was the 12th child of 16 children. She married Richard Bernard Washington, son of the late George and the late Eleanor Washington, on April 22, 1944 in Indian Head, Maryland. To this union were born five children.

Upon graduating from High School she worked with the Federal Government for more than 28 years. Regina retired as a Physical Science Lab Technician from Indian Head Naval Ordnance Station December 31, 1989. She was an active member of the Ladies Sodality Organization and an active participant on various projects during the renovation of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
Regina was a devout Catholic. While under her doctor's care for cancer she continued her devotion to the rosary. She enjoyed her trips to the Casino and dreamed of hitting the "big one." She enjoyed family gatherings and her daily conversations with friends and family.

Surviving are daughters Elaine, Donna & Penny; niece (like-a-daughter) Judy Gray; sons Raymond & Bryan; nephew (like-a-son) Maurice Washington; five grandchildren Renee, Tracee, Jason, Fred & Ian; four great grandchildren Amira, Nya, Taj, Corrine and Katelyn Regina; one daughter-in-law Mona Washington; one son-in-law James Weems; three sisters Ruth Swann, Adelaide Datcher and Virginia Brockington; deceased siblings Corenna, Beatrice, Edith, Mary, Thomas, Annie, Lucy, George, Catherine, James, Raymond and Charles; four sisters-in-law Clara Washington, Louise Washington, Agnes Washington and Mary Washington-Frazier; three brothers-in-law Charles Datcher, Paul Washington and Curtis Washington and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mom, you will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. We will forever admire the strength and courage you demonstrated during your fight with cancer. We are grateful for the time we had with you and know that we were so fortunate for every second you were with us! We find great comfort in knowing that you and Dad are reunited in heaven!

Her viewing will take place on Saturday, March 12th, 11:30am until Mass of Christian Burial 12:30pm at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, MD.
