Regina Milstead Ross was born July 6, 1933, in Chicamuxen, Maryland. She departed this life on June 7, 2018, at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland.
Regina, affectionately known as "Puddy-Pie" to family and friends, was born to the late Irving and Maud Milstead. At the age of four, after the death of her mother, Regina went to live with her father's sister, Ada (Milstead) Reed, for five years. She returned to her family homestead in Charles County in 1942. She attended Charles County public schools, where she graduated from Pomonkey High School in 1952.
As a young adult Regina met William Hemsley, and two children were born. In 1957, Regina met and married Charles Cline Ross, from that union, six children were born.
Regina spent her early adult years as a mother, wife and homemaker. She and her family settled in at her family's Homestead on Stump Neck Road. Tragically, in 1964, her home was destroyed by fire. She and her family later moved to Indian Head, Maryland, for a short period of time before relocating to Washington, DC.
Regina was employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington DC. After twenty-seven years of service, she retired as a Telephone Operator/Emergency Dispatcher.
Regina, gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Alexandria United Methodist Church in Indian Head, Maryland. Her favorite scripture verse was Psalm 23:1-6; "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
In her earlier years, she loved to dance. Regina's personality was filled with humor and enthusiasm. Her voice was sweet, soft, serene and forever young. She was filled with history, had a natural sense of humor and would cause one to have belt bursting laugher. She had a green thumb and a love for plants and planting flowers. Anything she planted, blossomed.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Irving, Sr. and Maud Milstead, husband, Charles Cline Ross, son, Tracy Allen Ross, grandson, Stephen Demetrius Matthews, three sisters, Naomi Lloyd, Victoria Washington and Thelma Bond, three brothers, Irving Milstead, Jr., Carroll Milstead "Snooks" and Royce Milstead "Smat".
She is survived by three sons, Donald W. Milstead, Terrance D. Ross (Mildred), Charles C. Ross (Anita), four daughters Ginger D. Davis (Calvin), Sonya M. Pollock (John), Regina R. Kelly (John), Bridgette I. Ross; daughter-in-law, Allison Ross, one godson, Michael Swann, thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ethel Thomas and Ruth Simmons, three sisters-in-law, Marlene Ross, Bessie Ross and Donza Milstead and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Her Viewing will be, 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, June 15, 2018, in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A. Interment, Alexandria United Methodist Church, 5605 Chicamuxen Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.Viewing
